This is an astonishing post. And I was delighted to see my book on your list. Surprising as well was to see your passion for the physical and your personal training ambitions realized - something I too completed a few months back. All the best in your continuing mission.

Having been your roommate for the past year, I liked reading this year in review post as I've seen it unfold as closely as anyone has (through working out/muay thai/discussing books and ideas, etc.).

This clearly has been a transformative year, and I think you've done an excellent job explaining what you've been doing recently by calling it a "course in life". As Dave said, the number of books you've made it through this year is admirable and I think the fact that you've even made this year happen is even more admirable. You've done what so many talk about, but never follow through on and you have been able to sustain it. The fact that you stay motivated and move forward positively everyday is a testament to your character, and one of the things that will continue the successes you've had.

As we've discussed, this year (which has already been so positive) will be paying dividends for years to come. It's when, not if, you hit it big.

Considering we actually came to know each other through a blog post, it feels appropriate the drop a comment one year later. Your book consumption is enviable and admirable and says much about the person your shaping yourself into. It's promising to see your high mark for "Flow" as that is next in my queue.

This has clearly been a huge year for you -- a year like this, your first out of the corporate world, is a year unlike most still in that realm will ever experience. Really acknowledge that. Climbing Fuji in Japan, physical training certification, a book down every few days, jumping from a plane, creating a business and building strong friendships -- all inside the first year, a year of perfect health. I defy most to hold a candle to that.

Life does conspire on our behalf. Your year is solid proof of that, and the prospect of the next years to come is enough to set the mind on fire with anticipation.

Life, she is good.

That last statement is so powerful yet routinely overlooked. Nothing to lose and everything to gain. If you just took a few minutes to explore the value behind such a statement and how it applies to you, you're bound to find it invaluable.

Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Succeed.

Or,

Fail.

There is no other option. Weigh the balance of small risks you take today next to the boundless opportunities you will create for yourself if you take the next step. It's one of the hardest actions any one of us make, yet its also the biggest one that is required of us to succeed. It's something that I am working on to drill into my memory every day, that without that step, its just a fail.. worse than my fear to try at all - and that should scare you into action. Action that will undoubtedly change your life.
